According to a VNA correspondent in the U.S., as of 1:30 PM, preliminary vote counts show that Trump has secured more than the required 270 electoral votes, thereby defeating Kamala Harris to become the 47th President of the United States.
The decisive victory came in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, which holds 19 electoral votes.
Immediately following the announcement of the results, Trump delivered a victory speech to a large crowd of supporters in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Electoral College in each state is expected to meet on December 17 to officially cast their votes, confirming Trump as the next president of the United States.
Trump is scheduled to be sworn in on January 20, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol.

Republicans Control the U.S. Senate, Hold Majority in the House
According to The New York Times, as of 12:10 PM on November 6 (Vietnam time), the Republican Party had secured a total of 51 out of 100 Senate seats, gaining control of the legislative chamber.
Every two years, one-third of the Senate seats are up for election. In the 2024 election, a total of 34 seats were contested.
Of the 51 seats won by the Republicans, 38 were not up for election this year. The Republicans held 11 seats and gained 2 additional seats from the Democrats.
On the Democratic side, they currently hold 42 seats, of which 28 were not up for election. The party held 14 seats but did not win any additional seats.
