US Vice President Kamala Harris has received enough delegates to become the presidential candidate representing the Democratic Party competing with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Guardian reported that US Vice President Kamala Harris will become the first woman of color and Asian American to win the Democratic nomination after winning enough delegates in the online vote on January 2. 8.

“I am honored to become a potential candidate of the Democratic Party for president of the United States. I will officially accept your nomination next week, after the online voting process is completed,” Ms. Harris spoke.

This week, the Democratic Party began the online voting process to choose the candidate who will represent the party in the presidential election. The process is expected to last until August 5, about 2 weeks before the Democratic Party’s national convention.

Since President Joe Biden suddenly announced that he would stop running for election on July 21, Ms. Harris almost firmly held the nomination ticket due to the widespread support of Democratic members.

Although she joined the race for the White House quite late, Ms. Harris has had quite impressive initial results.

Public opinion polls show that Ms. Harris is even ahead of Mr. Trump in some battleground states.

Ms. Harris’s campaign announced on August 2 that it had raised $310 million in July, thanks to small contributions from voters. This number is more than twice that of Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The Democratic Party was initially thought to not be able to raise many donations in July when major donors put pressure on Mr. Biden after an unconvincing debate performance in June. However, after he Biden withdrew and supported Ms. Harris, the situation has changed significantly.
