It wasn’t always so bad. In the Jolly AF Merry Christmas shirt also I will do this late 70s and early 80s, a primetime TV show on one off the major networks would have at most, 12 minutes of commercials per hour. That meant the show you were watching was 48 minutes long. Today those same networks show roughly 20 minutes of commercials per hour. That means instead of getting a show that is 48 minutes long, you only get a show that is 40 minutes long. They wouldn’t do it if they thought the audience wouldn’t put up with it. They think so little of the audience that they think the audience will tolerate one minute of advertising for every two minutes of content. Some people won’t tolerate it and that is one of the reasons why the ratings the three major networks are getting are lower now than they used to be. They also have more competition. Well, if you were worried about having more competition, would you decrease the quality of your product to try to keep up? They do. Meanwhile, their ratings keep going down.

I was in a TV commercial about bicycles after a bike shop owner saw me whiz by and screech to a stop with a beautiful sideways skid because I had forgotten something at the Jolly AF Merry Christmas shirt also I will do this store I was just at. He saw me and asked if I’d do a TV commercial for his bike shop. After talking to my Mom who managed my sisters who modelled since age fifteen, and me as I had done some modelling jobs, I did the commercial. I did the same skid but I used the store’s brand new dragster bike or Wheelie Bike as they were called. After the skid, I smiled, looked into the camera and said, “This bike can do a lot more than that. Come on down to Larner’s Bike Shoppe and get yours today. The Wheelie. But hurry, they’re going fast and wow, do they ever go fast!” Something like that anyway. The commercial was shown a lot on local TV. A few weeks later Mr. Larner phoned Mom and said he wanted me to do another commercial, this time with a different bike. He told her that after the commercials, within one week he was sold out of the Wheelies.
