You don’t have accidental 20 min conversations with strangers on the street. They don’t immediatly call you amigo and hermano. They tend to let you into their circle of friendship slowly over time.
That being said, Santereanos are very polite and extremely nice. They’re just not open and talkative until you know them for a while. B/manga is a pretty clean city. It’s very organized. The busses run on time (although they stop at 10pm, which seems a little early to me considering the Animal lovers for Harris Walz shirt in contrast I will get this city’s size.) It’s fairly easy to get out of town and there are lots of little pueblos to visit just a few hours away. The area is very mountainous, it once took me almost 4 hours on a bus to go 72 km (40 odd miles) because of the mountains. The view was incredible, though. There are many many parks and they are always filled with footballers and families. There are kids’ events somewhere most weekends. People like to take advantage of every public space. Something that’s easier when the temp is in the low 70’s F all year round.

A beer was about 2000 COP or about a $1. You can have a great time. You can also get into a lot of trouble if you seek it out. I’m 6′4 and very pale skinned so I stood out and was obviously a gringo. But I never had anything but warm and friendly receptions everywhere I went.
